I have always been told I have a natural ability for healing touch. Anyway, I am taking my first Reiki class in a couple weeks and I was wondering something. I have a severe anxiety disorder. Does anyone have any experience with Reiki and self-treating anxiety? Has anyone been helped by that?
Reiki can help with treating anxiety. When you feel anxiety give yourself Reiki.
I have used self-treatment sessions anytime I have an anxiety or panic attack and it does help. The more I give myself self-treatments, the less I have my anxiety or panic attacks. So I would recommend a daily dose of Reiki. I have had to do this even while driving as I get anxiety attacks when I drive.
Hi, i am writing an essay on people with anxiety disorders and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me?
1. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
2. If you get panic attacks, was there any traumatic event that
preceded your first one—such as death or illness of a loved one?
3.. How old were you when you had your first panic attack?
4. Were your parents nurturing? (Lots of hugs, affectionate, full of praise?)
Thanks a lot!
1. Introverted (but not excessively so)
2. Not really, rather lamely it was exam anxiety that brought it on
3. 17
4. Yes, I couldn’t fault them
They have spent millions on determining that Social anxiety Disorder is a deformation of the eighth chromosome and that the result of the malformation causes interference in the serotonin transporter cells and the serotonin receptor cells. Also that the condition known in Japan as Taijin Kyofusho is the Asian equivalent to SAD.
Now why bother to spend all those resources on a disease that they have no intention of treating anyways?
Sometimes when they lay a concrete foundation you can’t really tell what kind of building they are going to build.
This is just one of many stepping stones to building a genetic probability matrix on every human being. When you can do that you can then do many things. Deny health care to a individual who will most likely die young from heart disease no matter what you do. Incarcerate someone who has a high possibility of becoming violent. Label someone a murderer as they lie in the crib. The list is endless.
It also raises the question of "free will" vs "genetic destiny".
Rent the movie Minority Report.
Some will think that these things can’t happen, but they can. If I can think it, so can someone else… someone with more power than me.
DaVinci was persecuted for his ideas as well.
I’m just wondering what it’s like side effect-wise and result-wise.
And I guess if you have ever been to therapy for it that would apply here too. I have no idea what that’s going to be like.
thanks.
Thanks to everyone who answered already.
Yeah, I know I’ll hear different things from different people. Just trying to get a rough idea of what to expect.
I never took Zoloft but I have taken Desipramine, Paxil, Buspar and Seroquel.
Paxil worked the best for me. I had some mild sexual side effects of delayed ejaculation, but the side effect went away after a few months.
My mother was on Zoloft for a little while and it just made her sleepy (but she was on a lot of other medications for diabetes, heart problems and dementia at the same time).
I have friends who took Zoloft and say it worked well for them. Zoloft, Paxil and Prozac are all very similar.
I have been to counseling a few times. I guess it was helpful, but I feel like I could have accomplished the same thing by talking to a trusted friend.
I already take Zyprexa, which is an anti-psychotic medication, however I’m going to ask my doctor to add an anti-anxiety medication to my treatment too….because my anxiety is out of control, i have trouble even driving a car. I would like to know what medications have worked well for others to help with anxiety and what medications haven’t worked well. I don’t mind medications that cause weight gain or fat, I just want one that works.
Paxil. I have been taking Paxil for about 5 years now. It has…just mellowed me out so much. I didn’t realize how bad my anxiety actually was until I was put on Paxil. I am a totally different person now.
And it does not cause weight gain at all, actually gives me a bit of an energy boost.
Good luck :o)

Psychiatry Drugs Foster Care Children - Andrew
I took my video camera to a Foster Care Alumni meeting and asked seven foster kids to tell me about there experiences in Child Protective Services while wards of the state.
One thing they all had in common was massive over drugging with psychiatric drugs.
Child placement agencies, foster parents, RTCs (Residential Treatment Centers) and Therapeutic Foster Homes get paid a certain amount of money each day for taking care of a foster child. The amount of money they get paid depends on a level of care system. The more difficult the child or the more problems that child has, the more money you get.
A child at the basic level of care is worth about 17 dollars a day where as a child in the highest level of care could be worth as much as a 1000 dollars a day. This puts the incentive on diagnosing children with behavior problems to justify raising their level of care. A child on psychiatric drugs is worth more than a child without problems.
It is not uncommon for a foster child to be placed on many different psychotropic drugs at the same time. Some investigations have found children on as many as 13 mind altering drugs prescribed by a psychiatrists at one time.
These drugs include all categories of psychiatric drugs; antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anxiety medications, anticonvulsants medications, etc.
The SSRI drugs are commons such as Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, etc. Also a number of these children described taking Risperdal, Zyprexa, Geodon and other new generation antipsychotics which have been linked to weight gain, obesity and diabetes.
