is there anyone here who is suffering from fibromyalgia and anxiety disorder?

Posted by admin on October 29th, 2009 and filed under anxiety disorder | 2 Comments »

i have multiple symptoms and general body pain and doctors things i have anxiety disorder.i don’t yet any official diagnoses on fibromyalgia, but i think i have got it.

Good luck, many doctors are in deep denial over fibromyalgia, as they were for many years over chronic fatigue syndrome until they discovered it was caused by a virus. Basically, they’re so arrogant that if they can’t explain something, they decide it’s all in your heard, even if thousands of other people are reporting the same symptom. Here’s a great article I read the other day on what happened with chronic fatigue, and what I suspect is happening now with fibromyalgia:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/21/opinion/21johnson.html?scp=1&sq=chronic%20fatigue&st=Search

The situation isn’t helped by all the quacks who move in when people have unexplained symptoms. The very name fibromyalgia is a consequence of that. It’s a pain condition of unknown cause, has nothing to do with fibers — the "fibers" that have been analyzed proved to be nothing more than clothes lint.

My cousin is in the Marine Corps Reserve and was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder will he be discharged?

He went to a psychiatrist two days ago and was diagnosed with Social Anxiety disorder and was prescribed Xanax. I don’t think he has notified them yet but what are the odds of him being discharged? Does the Marine Corps routinely discharge Marines who have been diagnosed with mental disorders/illnesses?

Most likely he will not be in these times. My husband has been diagnosed with PT SD Anxiety and Agoraphobia. These diagnosis came 2 months after he left the Army. The Army had him on 5 different anti-psychotic/anti-depression meds at the same time and sent him to Iraq with all his meds and told him to make sure to keep taking them. While in the Army they told him he had indigestion and to go back to work.

What is the difference between anxiety medications and anti-depressants?

Anxiety medications are more like sedatives. They are for short term use only, and you take them when u have a panic attack to calm yourself down. Anti-depressants you take for a couple months, they take a few weeks to start working. they change the serotonin levels in the brain so you feel more happy. They also are less addictive.

my boyfriend can’t even eat breakfast because it ‘irritates his stomache’
I don’t know the degree of his anxiety because he’s very coolheaded on the outside but he sometimes says he feels like he’s panicking. maybe lexapro?

You need to go see a doctor to get diagnosed properly and see a therapist to be taught proper tools to deal with his anxiety. Xanax or ativan are short term emergency medication it is highly additive same as a narcotic. So they should be used for short periods.

Anxiety disorder..?

It just recently got worse, and now I can barely go into Wal-Mart or a mall without freaking out. It’s taking over my entire life, and I don’t know how to stop it. I am on Buspirone, and it seems to help..I just don’t want to deal with medication for the rest of my life. To anyone who has had anxiety disorder, or anyone who knows anything about it..How do I cope, and get over my everyday fears?

I have social anxiety disorder, and am the same way. I’m at the point where I can’t go somewhere like Walmart without at leasst being with someone that I know, because the sheer volume of people overwhelms me. I have panic attacks. So far I haven’t actually found much that helps aside from concentrating on deep breathing… I’m also on medication and hoping it will help. The only thing that I can say is that you shouldn’t stop going out due to these feelings… eventually it will lead to not being able to go out at all if you do.

Good luck!

Anxiety Disorder?

I think I have some sort of Anxiety disorder. I’ve had really bad panic attacks in the past, especially in new situations or when I’m at all nervous. I’m always very fatigued, sometimes my breathing is a little funny, and every once in a while my heart feels like its skipping beats. I sometimes get back spasms and reallllly bad shooting chest pains. It can feel really awful at times, and other times I just deal with it. I get very frustrated easily. My question is, it seems to me I have some sort of anxiety disorder, but what kind of doctor can I go to for help, who would dignose this?

I have anxiety and panick attacks. My family doctor diagnosed them, however, not all family doctors are comfortable diagnosing phscological problems and they might refer you to a phsyciatrist, who can prescibe medications. I have the same thing with my heart skipping beats and feeling out of breath. I always feel like I’m having a heart attack. My doctor did an EKG just to check, but it showed nothing, which made me feel a little better, because then I know that it’s just panick and not a real heart attack…but the only thing that has really helped me is a combination of Zoloft to help witht he anxiety and help prevent panick attacks, and Xanax for quick relief of the panick attacks. Talk to you family doctor and they can either help you themselves or, if they prefer, refer you to another doctor. Good luck!
