Depression and anxiety go hand-in-hand. Excessive depression leads to increased anxiety. Excessive anxiety leads to increased depression. My regular amounts of anxiety, led to periods of depression (usually a day or two at a time). At the time of this video, I was not taking medication. I didn’t want to and I truly believed I could be rid of my social anxiety without the use of medication. However, my therapist managed to change my mind about taking medication. She explained that since my anxiety is biological, I had a chemical imbalance of the brain (genetically). Therefore, I probably wasn’t going to fix it on my own (although I still believe it can be done!). Plus, “what do I have to lose?” I started thinking about going back to school. Will I be ready to go back this fall? If not, should I still go and force myself through it?–or will that do more harm than good?
